Arts For Life Asheville Announces an Opening for a Part-Time Music Teacher

Arts For Life Asheville seeks applications from professional musicians and music teachers for a part-time position to instruct young patients in the hospital setting 3-9 hours each week (completing at least 3 hours on the weekends).

Activities and Responsibilities:

  • Teach beginning and intermediate guitar, drumming, and percussion to children ages 3- 18 in the hospital setting.
  • Prepare dynamic and diverse music lessons and activities
  • Ensure music participation from a majority of patients, including those who have never before played an instrument and those more advanced in their music skills.
  • Strictly follow all hospital and Arts For Life guidelines addressing confidentiality, dress code, and standard of excellence.
  • Maintain professional and courteous relationships with hospital staff, patients and families.
  • Follow Arts For Life’s record keeping procedures.
  • Maintain and clean Arts For Life’s stock of musical instruments.

Strong candidates for this position will have:

  • At least 5 years of teaching experience
  • Proven ability to teach all levels of guitar, basic drumming and percussion, and beginning piano;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Ability to prioritize and manage time;
  • A good sense of humor and general positive attitude.

Salary Range: $20-30 per hour dependent on experience
